Yesterday at dusk, I heard a commotion in the trees. I walked toward the noise to see what was going on and was surprised to see a small owl looking down and several birds jumping from branch to branch squawking noisily. I have seen owls in captivity but this was my first sighting in the "wild". The owl was very calm, he didn't seem to be affected by the commotion at all.
I called the girls out and the neighbors and we followed the owl from tree to tree until he flew out of range. At one point, we saw a silhouette of a mourning dove and began to hear several doves calling from around the neighborhood. It was an experience to remember.
